The Phone of the Future

Hi,

I have just started to up-lode items onto Flickr, I will try experimenting further next time into the different applications that are available. I'm really glad to be getting into this new programs, although "new" is probably an incorrect term in the concept of technology. I can see so many uses for the new things I am learning, like adding photos of holidays and letting people accessing them without the problems like distance or with the cost of printing photos. I'm certainly pro for all the free applications that do not eat into my meager savings.

Speaking of learning and technology, I have just lernt how to upload images onto my blog. Just a tip for others though, I did not get the image button or spelling application on Internet Explorer, as other bloggers have noted Mozilla is the way to go.

Again on technology see the image below of a new phone, its very interesting, but I don't think I could hold my hand like that for the length of some of my phone calls.

Blogging again soon...

There's some wicked things happening with the web and mobile devices. Convergence is happening quickly.

Today I discovered QR Code. It's a 2-d barcode that when scanned and decoded by most mobile phones links the encoded web address (url).

QR code looks like a small crossword. You can easily generate one, and print it onto a document or business card. It's kind of linking something physical to something virtual or digital.

Apparently it was first used by car manufacturers to tag parts. For example you could tag all the books in a library to link to a digitised version.

Anyway, one of my students tested it on his iPhone today and it worked. Then, we lecturers, got a bit excited about it and tested our mobile phones - and it worked!

Facebook already integrates a similar thing but calls it a semacode. Same idea.

Maybe I'll could a qrcode tattooed on my arm so I get my mobile to my homepage quickly!

Thanks for your comment,

The QR code is something that librarys should have in the future.
